frequently asked questions

Below are a few of our frequently asked questions. Please feel free to email your question, if you have one that has not been answered below.
Q.) What is Etsy?
Etsy is an online marketplace that allows people to buy and sell handmade items. Many IndieSacramento artists will have their own Etsy shops from which you can purchase their goods. Visit Etsy's website at www.etsy.com for more information.
Q.) How can I sell the items that I make?
Visit the Etsy Seller Handbook for a complete list of tutorials. Find out where to begin, how to price items, how to sell at craft fairs and more.
Q.) Do I have to live locally to join?
Yes, IndieSacramento was founded as a way for Sacramento artists and crafters to network and showcase locally handmade goods. IndieSacramento is open to residents of Sacramento and surrounding areas (such as Davis, Elk Grove, Roseville, Granite Bay, Dixon, etc). If you have a question as to whether YOUR area is included, please ask.
Q.) Do you have to make your own goods to join?
Yes, IndieSacramento is only open to artists, crafters, and designers who design and create their own goods, locally.
Q.) Do I have to have a website to join?
Yes, you are required to have some sort of web presence (a website, blog, online shop, etc.) in order to join. Because the IndieSacramento Collective is an online collective, you will not benefit from membership unless visitors have a way to view and purchase your goods online.
Q.) Does the collective meet in person?
IndieSacramento is mainly an online collective. The collective consists of (1) a public website where visitors can view member profiles and shop for goods online and (2) a "members only" section of the website where members can update their own member profiles, add local events to the event calendar, and communicate with other members in a members only forum. Regular meetings will not be held, although in-person networking events may be scheduled a few times per year.
